Discount types
Available discount types on PayFacile: percentage, fixed amount. How each type works and use cases.
Percentage discount
A percentage discount deducts a percentage of the product price. For example, a 20% discount on a €50 product results in a €40 final price.
Use cases:
- Seasonal promotions (“30% off the entire catalog”)
- Loyalty rewards for returning customers
- Referral discounts
For subscriptions, the discount can apply for a defined number of billing periods. For example, “20% off for 3 months.”
Fixed amount discount
A fixed amount discount deducts a specific amount from the price. For example, a €10 discount on a €50 product results in a €40 final price.
Use cases:
- Welcome codes (“€10 off your first order”)
- Gift vouchers for a set amount
- Compensation for an issue
Note: if the discount amount exceeds the product price, the customer will only pay the minimum of €0 (the discount does not create a credit).
Discount target
When creating a discount, you define which fees it applies to:
- Subscription fee: reduces the recurring subscription amount
- Setup fee: reduces the one-time setup charge
- All fees: reduces both fee types
This setting is particularly useful for subscriptions that include both recurring fees and setup fees.
Application duration (subscriptions)
For subscriptions, you can define the number of billing periods during which the discount is active. For example, a discount applicable for 3 periods means the customer will get the rebate on their first 3 invoices, then pay the regular price from the 4th onward.
If you don’t set a duration, the discount applies indefinitely.
