The checkout flow

Discover the complete journey your customers follow on PayFacile: from the product page to payment, every step of the checkout flow explained.

Step 1: the product page

The purchase journey begins on your product page. The customer sees the description, images, price, and available options. Depending on your configuration, they see a "Buy now" button (direct mode) or an "Add to cart" button (cart mode enabled).

If the product has options or add-ons, the customer selects them before proceeding. They can also choose a quantity if this feature is enabled.

Step 2: the cart summary

If the cart is enabled, the customer reaches a summary page listing all added products, along with their options and quantities. They can adjust quantities, remove items, or apply a promo code before proceeding to payment.

In direct purchase mode, this step is skipped: the customer goes straight from the product page to the next step.

Step 3: customer information

The customer enters their contact details: first name, last name, and email address. If you have configured a mandatory billing address, they also enter their postal address.

This is where your custom questions appear (if you have created any): text fields, dropdowns, or checkboxes that you added to the checkout flow.

Step 4: payment and confirmation

The customer chooses their payment method: credit card (via Stripe) or SEPA direct debit (via GoCardless), depending on the gateways you have connected. They see a summary of the total amount before confirming.

Once the payment is validated, the customer lands on the confirmation page. They receive an email with their order summary and a link to their customer portal, where they can view their orders and download invoices.

FAQ

Does the customer need to create an account to place an order?
No, no account is required. The customer simply enters their name and email address during checkout. A customer account is automatically created behind the scenes so they can access their portal afterward.
Can I offer multiple payment methods?
Yes. If you have connected both Stripe and GoCardless, your customers will be able to choose between credit card and SEPA direct debit at checkout.
