Connect GoCardless (SEPA direct debit)

Enable SEPA direct debit on PayFacile by connecting GoCardless. Ideal for recurring subscriptions in Europe with lower fees.

Bank debit: fewer failures, lower fees

Do your customers prefer bank debits? Or do you want to reduce failed payments on your subscriptions? Connect GoCardless.

GoCardless debits your customers’ bank accounts directly via SEPA. Concrete advantages: no card expiration (so fewer failures on subscriptions), fees often lower than card payments for larger amounts. The only downside: settlement takes 2 to 5 business days, longer than card payments.

Step 1: Go to payment settings

Navigate to Settings → Payment from your dashboard. Below the Stripe section, you will find the GoCardless section with a Connect GoCardless button.

Step 2: Authorize GoCardless

Click Connect GoCardless. You are redirected to GoCardless to create an account or sign into an existing one.

GoCardless will ask for: your business information, address, and an IBAN to receive funds. Verification typically takes 1 to 2 business days.

GoCardless or Stripe: how to choose?

Use GoCardless for:

  • Recurring subscriptions: no card expiration risk, fewer failed payments.
  • European customers: SEPA direct debit covers the Eurozone, EEA, and the UK.
  • High-value payments: direct debit fees are often lower than card fees.

Keep Stripe for one-time payments, customers outside Europe, or when fast settlement matters.

Expected result: both gateways together

You can enable both gateways simultaneously. Your customers choose their payment method at checkout: card (Stripe) or SEPA direct debit (GoCardless).

Orders and payments are unified in your PayFacile dashboard, regardless of which gateway was used.
