What payment methods can I accept?
Card payments via Stripe, SEPA direct debit via GoCardless, manual payments, payment links—it all depends on what you’ve connected.
It depends on what you’ve connected
The payment methods available to your customers depend on which gateways you’ve enabled. Here’s what each connection unlocks:
Stripe connected → card payments
You accept:
- Visa and Mastercard: all debit and credit cards.
- American Express: accepted automatically (slightly higher fees on Stripe’s side).
- Apple Pay and Google Pay: available if you enable them in your Stripe dashboard. The payment form displays them automatically to compatible devices.
The customer enters their card details on a secure form hosted by Stripe (Stripe Elements). PayFacile never sees the card numbers.
GoCardless connected → SEPA direct debit
Your European customers can pay by bank debit. The customer provides their IBAN and signs a SEPA mandate online.
Particularly well-suited for subscriptions: no card expiration, lower payment failure rates. Processing time: 2 to 5 business days.
Manual payments (always available)
Without any gateway, you can record payments received by bank transfer, check, or cash. Go to Orders → select the order → Register external payment. The payment appears in your history and the invoice is generated.
Payment links
You can generate a payment link to share via email, SMS, social media, or QR code. The customer clicks the link and lands on your payment page with the product already selected. Payment goes through Stripe or GoCardless based on the customer’s choice at checkout.
What your customers see at checkout
On your checkout page, the customer sees only the payment methods you’ve enabled:
- Stripe only → card payment only.
- GoCardless only → SEPA direct debit only.
- Both → the customer chooses between card and SEPA direct debit.
