A base subscription + modules?
Selling a base subscription with add-on modules? Or different service tiers (Starter, Pro, Enterprise)? Subscription features let you structure exactly what each subscriber gets.
Each feature can represent an access level, a quota, a service, or a component of your offering.
Base features vs. add-ons
There are two types:
- Base features — included automatically. Every subscriber receives them upon subscribing.
- Add-on features — additional options with extra cost that the customer can add.
Example: an online course subscription could include course access (base) with individual coaching or certifications (add-ons).
Configure features
- Go to Products and open the relevant product
- In the features section, add the characteristics
- For each, define a name, description, and optionally an additional price
- Save
Features are visible to the customer at checkout and in their customer portal after subscribing.
Typical use cases
- SaaS with tiers — Starter (5 users), Pro (25), Enterprise (unlimited)
- Online courses — base course access + coaching, certification, VIP community
- Subscription boxes — standard box + customization (size, preferences)
- Recurring services — maintenance plan + priority support, monthly reports
